No Go here either. I love both of your little quilts. I love to make star blocks. Thanks for the fun!
September 8, 2011 8:39 PMI will be contacting her to get her choice of patterns.
It was fun to see what readers liked in block choices....and see that readers have so similar likes as I do.
Now for quilting chat...
Over the last few days I have been working on machine quilting and honing my skills. I have tried a few methods for marking a pattern.
1. Tissue paper pattern. On this one you draw your design on tissue paper and then quilt through this. I didn't like it because, in my opinion, it screwed up the stitch tension and I had to readjust. Also, I thought the paper moved and I didn't get a nice line.
2. Pounce with stencils. I thought this was messy and I didn't like the dust that pouncing created. I don't need any more pollution in my lungs.
3. Tracing with stencils. Of the three methods, I thought this was the easiest to mark and follow. Hmmm....old methods seem to be good.
What are your marking methods?

Congrats to Sandi!!
congrats to Sandi...i've been slack on reading blogs and missed a giveaway, darn me
Oh my! Thank you! I just love the little autumn quilt and it is the perfect time of the year. :-)
On the pounce~ if you let the lid on and hit it on the heal of your hand a few times to get the powder to the pad, then all you do is rub it over the stencil; don't 'pounce'. I met the lady who designed it and she never meant for people to clap it on the stencil, it should rub over very smoothly and leave a nice line.;-)
Have a happy weekend!
Congratulations to Sandi! Thanks for having a great giveaway.
I'm still trying to figure out what I like best. I just don't have enough experience with it yet. What type of marking pencil did you use? I have trouble getting a small line - they always seem too wide.
Since I have backed off from doing free-motion quilting (when I couldn't seem to master it), I can't give you my preferred method, sad to say. Congrats to your winner!
I have tried marking pencils with stencils but can't seem to get the tip sharp enough. I would like to use the air erase markers but don't really trust them, or me. Since Ricky brought me a long arm I use a pattern with a light pen.
Stop by my blog when you have a chance~ :-) http://crazyboutquilts.blogspot.com/ You are a versatile blogger in my book. :-)
I agree, stencils and a #2 pencil are my favorite for marking handquilting designs. Thanks for your review tho...it's always great to read other's opinions.
