My Spring Break Vacation

Two weeks ago today I was on a train heading for Florida. This was hubby's first long distance train trip. We left from Wilmington, Delaware and rode the train to Tampa, Florida. We had a little roomette. It was little! We joked that the people that share the roomettes better like each other if they are going to spend all that time together. One thing I can say is that the food on Amtrak is good.

We met hubby's sister and her husband in Port Charlotte just a short drive from their home. While we stayed with them we visited several beaches. The water is so blue! We went to Venice beach, Englewood Beach, and Siesta Key near Sarasota where the sand is like cornstarch!

Note the license plate we saw while visiting Englewood! This just has to be a quilter from Canada!

We went to Gasparilla State Park and Boca Grande.

I even had time to go to some quilt shops!  Here is one we found in Venice. Actually, my sister-in-law spied it and she isn't even a quilter.
We visited another shop, Quilts n' More! in Port Charlotte. They were both great little stores and I must admit I spent some of my vacation money there.

We had lunch at an open air restaurante....note the bird who joined us.

We visited friends who actually lived on the same street we did in PA. Unfortunately, we didn't get any pictures then.

My sister-in-law and I hung the wall hanging I made for her. When she saw it she new exactly what to do with it.  We made a valance for one of the bedrooms. Note the red ends on the valance...we made those out of table napkins.

We put a bid in on a house so we can become snowbirds but we still don't know how that deal will turn out.

The time was all too short and we headed home a week ago today and arrived in Delaware on Tuesday.

Wednesday morning my good friend Pat and I took off to Lancaster PA to go to the AQS quilt show and stayed until Friday.  We took a wonderful class on color from Gail Garber and spent an evening with Eleanor Burns.  We visited a couple of our favorite quilt shops in Bird-in-Hand on the way home!

These are just a few snippets of my hectic two weeks.  Now back to the real world.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time! You were in my brother's neighborhood when you were in Venice Beach!

Good luck with the bid...it sure would be nice to be able to spend winters in Florida!
