State Fair

Yesterday we went to the DE State Fair ...great time. We went to see the quilts and I was pleasanlty surprised to see that two of my guild members won ribbons...multiple ones...Congrats to Marion and Lucy!!

I also was surprised when we went into the first pavilion that we encountered, looked for a seat, and lo and behold...right behind us was my good friend PAT and her hubby. (PAT has some great photos of the quilt exhibit so I will send you to her blog.)Later on, we saw Jackie and her husband. Jackie does long arm quilting for me!

It started to sprinkle rain so hubby and I ducked into the casino for lunch. Great buffet...hubby played a whole dollar at the slots and came out ahead....

all in all....a great day

not much quilting goin, on

Over the weekend my son and grandson came and we went to the beach and the boardwalk for fun....
I am making some headway with the piles of yoyos that are turning into a coverlet. 90 squares that are about 9"by9" each (Each square has 25 yoyos)....about 10 more yoyos to go....and then there will still be plenty of yoyos left!
Today we are off to the DE State Fair....it's Senior Citizens' Day....one advantage of the aging process....can get into the fair for free.

the quilt show

I returned from PA and the Muncy Quilt Show. It was a small but lovely show. The quilts were very traditional...what I like...and they had quite a few vintage quilts on display. One in particular was interesting because it showed how to finish a yo yo quilt with a backing...more like a coverlet...but it really gave me the help I needed. I had a chance to touch base with some of my great friends...went to lunch with some others...dinner with still more....wow do I need to watch what I to lose all the weight I gained!

off to another show

Busy week ...aren't they always?
Guild meeting on Monday, work yesterday and today, then off on a long weekend excursion tomorrow. We are going to Williamsport PA where I used to work and still have some wonderful friends. We're staying with a special friend and her hubby. Friday we're having lunch with some of my writing group friends. I wrote once a week for a couple of years with these ladies and some of them came to see me and attend a writing conference here in DE. Then on Saturday we are going to a quilt show in Muncy, PA while hubbies attend a car show. Unfortunately it will be back to the real world on Sunday but I can look forward to attending my quilting bee on Monday! Must get packin'!

another project under my belt

I have my latest creation ready for the quilter...

It's a sampler quilt. I gave myself a challenge. All the blocks had to be made from squares or half square triangles. I set them on point. The final quilt came out to be about 80x80. Now I just need to get some backing fabric and have it quilted.

Today we are leaving for a few days camping with my son and his family...near Lancaster, PA. Hope to see some quilts!
