What a hoot

Last night a friend and I attended a lecture by Mark Lipinski ...what a hoot! He showed many of the quilts that he has had published in magazines and books. I just loved his color combinations and how he made traditional blocks look so vibrant. I was reminded to  ENJOY the quilting experience - something we often forget when we get wrapped up in the techniques and "rules"...I posted a long time ago about a sign I have in my office and thought this might be a good time to post it again.

IF YOU OBEY ALL THE RULES YOU'LL MISS ALL THE FUN.

I've also been working on my no sew swap blocks. Three more to go! It's a rainy day here so I'll brighten my day with quilting.

Yup......lots of folks are so intent on making things PERFECT and following all the "rules" that they don't enjoy the experience of making the quilt and then are constantly looking at all the little "mistakes" in the finished product....NOT the way to enjoy quilting, in my opinion!
