Camera, action!

Well, I figured out how to upload my pictures to my computer...why did I put this off - the directions are so easy. I guess that is often what keeps me from trying new things. I am afraid that I won't be able to do it! Now I just need to have my camera battery charge. I hadn't used it for such a long time that it was dead!

A task for my hubby. I have a big walk-in closet that I was using to store craft supplies but it was such a makeshift storage system that there was a lot of wasted space and I always had to dig to find things. Yesterday we went to Lowes (his favorite shopping place) and bought a modular closet system that has lots of shelves and drawers for me to use. He just now has to put it all together. I spent last night and this morning taking out all the things in the closet and piling them everywhere so he could get in there to work. The space is 42" by 98" so there will be lots of room. Can't wait.

I also over the last couple of days went through my stash of quilting fabric and sorted it. First I sorted it by size - over a yard, more than 1/4 yd. but less than a yard, fat quarters, and then scraps. Then I tried to arrange those by color. That was the tricky part since so many fabrics are multi-prints! I found that I have a lot of greens and browns which is funny because I always say my favorite color is blue. Time for a trip to the fabric store.

I do have a couple of quilts planned....will get to them sometime but I need to get my room cleaned up - Company coming in two weeks!

Speaking of room for company. Hubby has been busy on another project for me. He painted the "kids room" - the spare bedroom we have decorated for the grandkids. He just needs to finish the woodwork.

After a lull of activity since the holidays we have gotten back to working!

new projects

I spent time on writing yesterday. First I went to a class where we concentrated on writing about characters.....the instructor, Maribeth Fischer has a couple of novels published and is so good at drawing out the creative side of me. Then in the evening I went to one of the weekly freewrites that are just for fun! I don't plan to write the great American novel or any novel for that matter but it is just fun to play with words.

I also finished a wallhanging for on the inside of our front door. It was my own design based upon an idea I got from a children's book.

busy, busy, busy

I have been teaching 18 out of the last 22 days....and I said I was retired! I have enjoyed working with the first and second graders though.

In between I did get two of my quilts back from the longarm quilter...they came out great. It is amazing how the quilting brings the quilts alive. I have finished binding the Thomas quilt and am starting to bind the mermaid quilt today. My problem is that I am such a perfectionist that I sometimes take my stitches out a couple of times and redo them until I think they are right...and many times I am still not satisfied...those looking at the quilts can't find the imperfections but I sure do.

I am anxious to start a new quilt but I am determined to finish these up first. Still haven't played with the camera - my mind has been on so many things.

Acting on some urges

Today I am going to my quilt guild meeting....we are to learn about using hexagons ....I've never used this pattern before so I am anxious to learn some tricks.

I finished the quilt with the baskets on it over the weekend...ready to start a new one.

I also signed up for a writers' conference to be held in March at Rehoboth Beach, DE. Should be fun because a couple of the women are coming from the town where I used to live.

My goal this week is to learn how to transfer photos from my digital camera to my laptop! Shouldn't be hard. If I do, I can post some pictures of my projects here.
